Privacy Policy
Effective date: July 15, 2026
1. Who we are
TheMapleScore.ca is operated by MAPLE Score™, a privately developed initiative operated by Richard Leblanc (“MAPLE Score,” “we,” “us” or “our”).
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, retain and protect personal information when you visit TheMapleScore.ca, contact us or submit an expression of interest in the MAPLE Score™ Founding Producer Pilot.
2. Information we collect
We may collect information that you provide directly, including:
- your name, company, title or role;
- email address and telephone number;
- information included in a general inquiry;
- product categories and candidate product information;
- estimated Canadian ingredient content;
- processing or manufacturing locations;
- brand ownership and sales-channel information; and
- your explanation of why a product may be suitable for the founding pilot.
Please do not submit confidential formulations, supplier identities, contracts, sourcing records or other proprietary information through the website.
We may also receive limited technical information when you use the website, such as your browser type, device information, IP address, pages viewed and general interaction data.
3. How we use personal information
We may use personal information to:
- respond to inquiries;
- assess potential suitability for the founding producer pilot;
- arrange follow-up discussions;
- operate, secure and improve the website;
- maintain records of communications and submissions;
- prevent misuse, fraud or security incidents;
- comply with legal and regulatory obligations; and
- establish, exercise or defend legal rights.
Submitting an inquiry or pilot expression of interest does not subscribe you to marketing communications.
We will not send commercial electronic messages unless we have the required consent or another lawful basis to do so.
4. Consent and limiting collection
By voluntarily submitting information through the website, you consent to its collection, use and disclosure for the purposes described at the time of submission and in this Privacy Policy.
We seek to collect only information reasonably necessary to respond to an inquiry or assess preliminary pilot suitability.
You may withdraw consent, subject to legal or contractual restrictions and reasonable notice. Withdrawal may prevent us from continuing to assess or respond to a submission.
5. How information may be shared
We may disclose personal information to:
- Shopify and service providers that host, maintain, secure or support the website and forms;
- professional advisers, including legal, accounting, technology and regulatory advisers;
- contractors assisting with legitimate MAPLE Score™ operations, subject to appropriate confidentiality obligations;
- government, regulatory or law-enforcement authorities where disclosure is legally required; or
- another entity in connection with a legitimate restructuring, transfer or succession of the MAPLE Score™ initiative, subject to appropriate protections.
We do not sell personal information.
6. Shopify and service providers
The website is hosted on Shopify. Shopify and related service providers may process technical, form and website-interaction data to provide hosting, security, form functionality and platform services.
Personal information may be processed or stored outside your province or outside Canada. When information is processed in another jurisdiction, it may be subject to the laws of that jurisdiction.
7. Cookies and website technologies
The website may use cookies and similar technologies that are necessary to operate the site, maintain security, remember preferences and understand general website performance.
Where consent is legally required for non-essential cookies or tracking technologies, we will provide appropriate privacy choices through the website.
Browser settings may allow you to block or delete cookies, although doing so may affect website functionality.
8. Retention
We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, including follow-up, recordkeeping, legal compliance and dispute resolution.
General inquiries and unsuccessful pilot expressions of interest will ordinarily be retained for no longer than 24 months after the last meaningful interaction, unless a longer period is reasonably required or permitted by law.
Information relating to an ongoing pilot, business relationship or legal obligation may be retained for a longer period.
9. Safeguards
We use reasonable administrative, technical and organizational safeguards appropriate to the nature of the information.
No online service or electronic transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure. Do not submit sensitive or proprietary business information through public website forms.
10. Access and correction
You may request access to personal information that we hold about you and ask that inaccurate or incomplete information be corrected.
We may need to verify your identity before responding. Legal exceptions may limit the information we are able to provide.
11. Privacy choices and communications
You may ask us to:
- correct or update your information;
- withdraw consent where legally available;
- stop non-essential communications; or
- explain how your information has been used or disclosed.
A direct response to an inquiry or pilot application is not considered a general marketing subscription.
12. External websites
The website may link to third-party publications, government resources or other external websites. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies, not this Privacy Policy.
13. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in our practices, technology, services or legal obligations.
